Mar 25, 1923 — Jan 20, 2017
A Funeral Service for Addalene Leith, 93, of Marshall will be held Monday, January 23, 2017 in the Chapel of Downs Funeral Home at 1:00p.m. Interment will follow the service in New Grover Cemetery. Visitation with family and friends will take place Sunday, January 22, 2017 at Downs Funeral Home from 5:00p.m. to 7:00p.m. Ms. Leith passed away Friday, January 20, 2017 in Marshall.
Addalene Leith was born March 25, 1923 in Wilbarger County, Texas to Hubert and Juanita Hendricks. After World War II, Addalene's life journey began when she married her high school sweetheart, Jack Leith. For the next 65 years, Addalene and Jack would care for, watch after, and love one another. Jack preceded Addalene in death on Aril 20, 2010.
Before retiring, Addalene worked as a Registered Nurse and Health Occupation Teacher at Marshall High School. She loved nursing and taking care of others.
Her hobbies included scrapbooking, crafts, gardening, and cooking. She loved to cook for family and friends and leaving her house hungry was simply not an option. Camping was also a favorite pastime, something Addalene and her family enjoyed doing together.
As a devoted Christian, Addalene was a faithful and founding member of the Evangelical Presbyterian Church of Marshall. Mission work was not work to Addalene, it was a calling, a way for Addalene to give. She passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family. Heaven welcomed a new angel on January 20. Addalene has joined God, rejoined her loved ones, and awaits the homecoming of her family and friends.
She is survived by her son, Phillip Leith (Deborah); daughters, Nita Ayers (Chuck) and Lisa Nuguent and fiancé, John Gonzales; nine grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, and other loving, family and friends.
