Alma Kerry Cadungon Sample Alma Sample, a long-time resident of Shreveport, Louisiana, died Tuesday the 10th of May in Marshall Texas, where she had resided since 2005. Born in 1934 in Campti Louisiana, of Ed Kerry and Paralee Grillitte (née Desadier), she moved to Shreveport in 1954. Alma trained as an LPN and practiced in hospitals and in the private service for over 20 years. Alma had a lifelong interest in education and continued studying after retirement, completing correspondence courses in subjects ranging from Criminal Justice to Psychology/Social Work. She loved gardening and nature and inspired other people to be happy and joyful. A real adventurer, she traveled after retirement across the U.S. and to several countries including the Philippines and had many international pen pals. She was a NRA member and was proud to be a lifetime member of the Sheriffs Association of Texas. She is survived by her sister, Ann Whitaker of Picayune Miss; six children: William Decateur Roussel Jr. of Shreveport, Rosemarie Amy Norris of Largo, Florida, Joseph Scudday Roussel III of Paris, France, Jacqueline Meliene Roussel of Dallas, Eulalia Elaine Nicholson of Leander Texas, and Michelle Renee Brite of Virginia Beach, Virginia; and eleven grandchildren: Sarah, Jacob, Caleb, Seth Roussel of Shreveport, Christopher Norris and Thierry Roussel of Largo, Florida, Robert and Claire Roussel of Paris, France, Cheyenne Nicholson of Leander, Texas, Tori Hayes and Ian Brite of Virginia Beach, Virginia Memorial gifts may be made to your local Salvation Army. A family memorial service was held on Thursday May 13th at the Downs Funeral Home with family and close friends in attendance.
