Graveside services for Alvin Buck Holt, 81, of Hallsville, TX will be held 2 p.m., Thursday, May 3, 2012 at Hallsville Cemetery. Visitation will be held 5-7 p.m., Wednesday, May 2, 2012 at Downs Funeral Home in Marshall. Mr. Holt passed away April 28, 2012 in Brownsville, TX. Mr. Holt was born July 9, 1930 in Marshall to Harry and Delila Williams Holt. He married Laura Yakel on January 28, 1952 in Marshall. He served his country in the U S Navy near the end of World War II, and served in the South Pacific. He was in sales for many years and served in accounting before his retirement. He was a member of Trinity Heights Baptist Church of Shreveport. Mr. Holt is survived by his wife, Laura Yakel Holt; his mother, Delila Spears; his sons, Jimmy Holt and Charles and Yvette Holt; daughter, Carla and Thomas Brown; and grandchildren, Del Brown, Brittany Brown, Paden Brown, Ashlee Pace, Travis Pace, Eric Holt, and Maddox Holt. He was preceded in death by his father, Harry Holt and grandparents, Bennie and Robert Williams. Pallbearers will be Thomas Brown, Del Brown, Paden Brown, Eric Holt, Travis Pace. Honorary pallbearers will be Tommy Morton, Staff of Select Care of Longview, TX, Staff of Valley Grande Manor, Brownsville, TX, Dr. Lewis Browne and Dr. Hong Shen.
