Funeral services for Alvin Lee Jones, 57, of Marshall, TX will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, September 22, 2013 in the Chapel of Downs Funeral Home. Bro. Kenneth Flanagan and Andy Seals will officiate. Interment will follow at Liberty Cemetery in Harleton. A time of visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Saturday, September 21, 2013 at Downs Funeral Home. Alvin passed away September 19, 2013 at his residence. Alvin Lee Jones was born October 29, 1955 in Marshall, Texas to Willie Lee and Mary Virginia Cutrer Jones. He was a graduate of Marshall High School. Alvin married Angelie Sue George on August 12, 1978 in Marshall. He was a member of Clearview Baptist Church, Sunday School Director, and a deacon for more than 30 years. He worked for Dr. Pepper Bottling in sales for a number of years. Alvin loved fishing and hunting. Alvin is survived by his wife, Angelie Jones of Marshall; daughters, Virginia Opal Jones of Marshall, Mary and Keith Becher of Houston, Angela and William Mentz of Harleton; son, Chris and Megan Jones of Harleton; grandkids, Grace and Morgan Becher, Joseph, Lauren and Ashley Mentz, Beau and Sawyer Jones, 2 adopted grandkids, Randy and Jena Mentz; and numerous other family and friends. Alvin was preceded in death by his parents. Pallbearers will be Kurt Kurth, Tony Holcomb, Garry Haney, Walter Hick, Gary Dennis, Preston Nealy, Donald Seals and James Cutrer.
