Obituary

Ann was born in London during the Blitz, the second child to Frank and Linda Stephens. Ann decided she wanted to be a Beautician once she left school and once trained, was the youngest qualified Beautician in the UK at the time. Ann also trained as a teacher and taught young women to become beauticians at a local college in Chichester, England. She was in fact, responsible for developing the educational curriculum for the Beautician field for the United Kingdom and multiple other countries as well.

Since there were no beautician text books written at the time, Ann worked with an academic publisher to write and illustrate a range of books that became the standard text for over 30 years, some of which are still used today.

Ann had three children, Patsy Ann, Lisa Josephine, who sadly died at 10 weeks old, and Ashley James. She married Peter Gallant in 1967 and taught at Gloucester College where she did camouflage makeup courses for scarred and disfigured people. She travelled extensively as a beauty consultant and beauty product developer and taught in many different countries including Canada, America, Hong Kong, and South Africa.

Ann divorced and remarried Robin Cleugh and moved to South Africa where she happily lived during her 35 year marriage, until Robin died of cancer. Ann then retired to Cyprus in the Mediterranean to be an artist and travel the world with her sister Barbara.

After being diagnosed with Parkinson's, Ann finally moved to Texas to be near her son, Ashley, as her health was beginning to fail.  Even in retirement, Ann continued to be active. She wrote a series of children's books about the adventures of Jasmin, Hummingbird Princess, inspired by the birth of her youngest granddaughter, Savannah. She was also involved in the community as an author, artist, poet, Master Gardener; as well as being a much loved sister, doting grandmother, and loving mother.

Ann is survived by one daughter, Patsy O'Malley of Bournemouth England; one son, Ashley James Gallant and wife Lisa, of Marshall, Texas; three grandchildren: Joy O'Malley of Wales England, Savannah Gallant and Connor Gallant, both of Marshall, Texas.
