A graveside service for Annette Wise Grooms, 88, of Marshall, Texas will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, March 8, 2022, at Yates Memorial Cemetery in Scottsville, Texas. Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Monday, March 7, 2022, at Downs Funeral Home in Marshall, Texas.

She was born on May 28, 1933, in Marshall, Texas to Leroy Wise and Louise Power Wise. She passed away at her residence in on March 4, 2022. She married Jimmie D. Grooms on November 25, 1954, in Port O'Conner, Texas. She received her master's degree from Stephen F. Austin in 1956. She was a second-grade schoolteacher for 33 years who touched the lives of thousands of children throughout those years. She taught at David Crockett in Marshall and retired from Elysian Fields Independent School District. She enjoyed doing her needlepoint, cross stitching and coloring.

She is survived by her son, Richard "Scotty" Grooms and wife, Rose; grandchildren, Joseph Grooms, Branden Sellers, Kristen Grooms, Sheyenne Shaw, Nicole Grooms, Moira Grooms and Althea Grooms along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and other family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Leroy and Louise Wise; husband, Jimmie Grooms and brothers, Billy Wise, James Lawless and Roy Joe Wise.
