Obituary

A memorial service will be held for Annie Ruth Roberson, of Marshall, Texas at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, October 7, 2023, in the Chapel of Downs Funeral Home.

Annie Ruth was born January 21, 1948, in Marshall, Texas. She graduated from Marshall High School in 1966 and maintained lifelong friendships with many of her fellow classmates. She was gracious and kind to everyone she met and had the unique ability to make everyone she touched feel special and loved. Her faith guided and sustained her, shaping her heart and character, making her truly exceptional in every way.

She loved to read and had several hobbies throughout the years including water skiing, horseback riding, and gardening. Roses, tulips, irises, and hydrangeas were just a few of her most favorite flowers. She was a gifted pianist who enjoyed listening to and playing beautiful music. Her favorite songs to play were gospel hymns and she served as pianist for her church family at Karnak Baptist Church.

This beautiful and exceptional woman passed away on October 3, 2023, and was preceded in death by her parents, Herman and Pansy Blackmon; her nephew, Richard Eugene Brown; her mother and father-in-law, Virgil and Willie Roberson, and her sister-in-law, Margaret Ann Skinner.

Annie Ruth is survived by her beloved husband of 57 years, Albert Nolan Roberson; daughter, Robyn Renee' Rushing and son in law Robert Scott Rushing, son, Allan Dale Roberson, and daughter, Karen Michelle Campbell; grandchildren, Denver Nolan Hancock, Gracie Anne Hancock, Nicholas Scott Rushing, and Matthew Ryan Rushing. She is also survived by her sister, Martha Lois Nichols; niece Vicki Elaine Brooks, and great nephew, Zachary Kaine Turner. She loved her family fiercely, unconditionally, without question, and beyond measure. She will be dearly missed, each and every day, by all of us.
