Funeral services for Arnold "Stew" Stewart, 82, of Marshall, TX, will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, May 2, 2015, in the Chapel of Downs Funeral Home with Rev. John Bayliss and Cecil "Buddy" Hancock officiating. Interment will follow in Simmons Cemetery in Marion County, TX. A time of visitation for family and friends will be held from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Friday, May 1, 2015 at Downs Funeral Home. Mr. Stewart passed away April 29, 2015 in Longview. Arnold Stewart was born October 31, 1932, in Jefferson, TX, to Ben Perry Stewart and Rita Pauline Beal Stewart. He served his country in the U.S. Navy for 4 years. He then joined the Air Force and served for 16 years before retiring in 1974 as a MSGT. In 1975, Mr. Stewart became a letter carrier for the U. S. Post Office, retiring in 1995. He married Mary Lee Fannin on May 7, 2011. Mr.Stewart was a member of Port Caddo Baptist Church. Surviving Mr. Stewart are his wife, Mary Lee Stewart of Marshall; daughters, Charlotte Stewart and husband George Noel of Longview, Susan Stewart Green of Marshall and Peggy Stewart of Dallas; 4 grandchildren, Saydie Noel, Chadwick Green, Cara Green, Angelina Hunter; 4 great grandchildren; numerous other extended family members and friends. Preceding Mr. Stewart in death are his first wife, Nelda Jean Stewart; his parents; and his sister, Wanda Dominy. Pallbearers will be Luther Dominy, Danny Dominy, Mark Davis, Cliff Haynes, Glen Mac Meredith and Sgt. Chadwick Green.
