Funeral services for Arvel L. Scott, 66, of Marshall, will be held today at 10:30 a.m. in the Chapel of Downs Funeral Home with Rev. Jerry D. Hunt officiating. Interment will follow at Yates Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Scottsville. Mr. Scott passed away December 16, 2012 at his residence. Mr. Scott was born October 4, 1946 in Lodi, TX to Boyce L. and Willie Dell Howe Scott. He attended Jefferson Public Schools. Mr. Scott married Deborah Jane Hunt on November 21, 1973 in Marshall. He was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church and the local Mason Lodge. Mr. Scott was an avid hunter, fisherman, iron working, carpentry. He lived to work with his hands. Mr. Scott was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. Mr. Scott is survived by his wife, Deborah Scott; son, Cody Scott and wife Desiree; daughter, Megan McCain; granddaughter, Lauren Paige Scott; 2 sisters; several nieces and nephews; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Wayne and Marian Hunt. Mr. Scott was preceded in death by his parents and 1 sister, Sue Dew. Pallbearers will be Cody Scott, Jason Childs, Wayne Hunt, Dakota Golden, Buster and James Irvin. Funeral services for Arvel L.
