Bailey Thompson, Jr. was born December 30, 1940 to Bailey Thompson, Sr. and Gussie Cooks Thompson in Jonesville, Texas. Mr. Thompson's home church was Shiloh Missionary Baptist where he was a member for many years. In December of 1961, Bailey Thompson and Mattie Spillmon united in marriage. They spent the next 55 years loving and caring for one another, raising their   children, and watching their grandchildren grow. Mr. Thompson worked hard to support his family and for more than 30 years he was employed by Fab Steel of Waskom.

Those left to cherish the memories of Mr. Thompson are his loving wife of nearly 56 years, Mattie Mae Thompson of Waskom; daughter, Johnnie Mae Stephens (Shari) of Marshall; son, Michael Wayne Thompson (Lanell) of Elysian Fields; daughter, Barbara Lynn Thompson of Waskom; daughter, Willie, Mae Williams (Victor) of Marshall; daughter, Cynthia Anne Bennett (John), Shreveport; daughter, LaTonya Yuniece Manning (Jerry) of Marshall; son, Bailey Thompson, III of Waskom; grandson, Cedric Thompson; brothers, W.L. Thompson, M.C. Thompson and Herman Bufford; sisters, Delilah   Edmond, Rubye High, Lola Spillmon, and Oneda Dillard. Also surviving Bailey Thompson are 16 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren, as well as many friends and extended family.
