Obituary

A graveside service for Barbara Ann Lawson, 83, of Winnsboro, Texas will be held at 3:00 p.m., Saturday, July 15, 2023, at Colonial Gardens Cemetery in Marshall, Texas.

Barbara was the first child born on September 7, 1939, to Thomas Samuel Delair and Viola Marion Inscho in Somerville, New Jersey and passed away peacefully entering her eternal rest after battling a long illness on July 9, 2023, in Winnsboro, Texas.

She lived life to her fullest and always brought energy to the room with her charismatic personality. She worked hard all of her life. She worked in various jobs, being a telephone operator, insurance underwriter, bartender, bookkeeper, office manager, owner of service stations, owner of a car wash, and as an owner of a construction company. She was a Methodist.

She never met a stranger and was known for being quick witted and straightforward in her opinions, yet always leaving a conversation in friendship. She treasured newfound friendships. If you were one of her friends, please realize how deeply she cherished your friendship and you brought great joy to her life.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Viola; her brother-in-law, Leonard Dodd; a grandson, Heartsill "Aaron" Dicks; a half-brother, Robert Thomas Delair as well as her dearest friend, Carl Johnson Hall.

She leaves behind her sister, Pauline Dodd of Flemington, New Jersey and brother, Thomas S. Delair and wife Henriette of Belgium. She loved them very much, enjoying talking and visiting with them via Facetime as often as she could. She also leaves behind her daughter, Cheryl Dicks and husband Heartsill "Yogi" of Commerce, Georgia, daughter Shelley Ann Norwood and husband Malcolm of Waskom, Texas, son Robert Thomas Snyder and wife Joyce of Winnsboro, Texas, and son Daniel Webb Lawson of Winnsboro, Texas; her nephew, Thomas Edward Dodd and family of New Jersey; her grandchildren, April (Dicks) Tate and husband Dana, Amelia Dicks, Jeremy Westfall, Melissa Norwood, Dwayne Harless, Daniel Harless, John Harless, Lisa Hood, Monica Forest, and Michael Snyder; 13 great grandchildren; 14 great great grandchildren; a host of cousins and friends and her at-home caregivers, Barbara Harrison and Marsha Campbell, and the extended family that cared for her at Lakeview for the past few months.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made in her honor to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or to the American Lung Association.
