Barbara C.
Lundy
Oct 5, 1955 — Mar 27, 2026
LIndale
Barbara Corpier Lundy of Lindale, Texas, formerly of Marshall, Texas passed away on Friday, March 27, 2026, after a sudden illness.
She was born on October 5, 1955, in Almagordo, New Mexico to parents, Robert Smallwood Corpier and Delores Laverne York.
She spent her early life in many places as her father was a career Air Force Man. Wherever she found herself she managed to pursue some sort of goal, including Air Force ROTC. It was there that she found her love of dogs watching the Airmen taking their trained dogs through their paces.
She groomed dogs at Powdermill Kennels while attending high school. She eventually pursued a degree in Criminology at Kilgore College hoping to become a police officer, but with little opportunity to expand in the small town of Marshall, she gave up that dream. At that time, she began working for the city at the Marshall Animal Shelter.
She married Sam Lundy in July of 1977 and together they bought the old Powdermill Kennels in 1986. They started building their home on FM 1997 on the property next to their growing business.
Then the fascination with showing dogs became an obsession. The girl that couldn't find her way to her house on a side street in Marshall began navigating Heathrow Airport in London and the subsequent subways with east. She showed once at the Westminster Dog Show in New York but found more fun touring the Crufts European Shows. Her highlight was a trip to Milan Italy for an all-breed Bedlington terrier show. Her flawless grooming on the Bedlington Terrier was noted to stand out so much that most handlers knew who groomed the dog. She was chosen and her career highlighted at the American Kennel Club (AKC) Museum in New York City, New York where she is recognized for her contributions to Bichon's and Bedlington Terriers. Her last show was in Ireland where she and her husband traveled with friends from Scotland.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Delores Corpier.
She is survived by her husband, Sam Lundy of Lindale, Texas and sisters, Brenda Peterson of Henderson, Texas and Belinda Corpier of Tulsa, Oklahoma along with many cousins, nieces, nephews and other family and friends.
A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, April 18, 2026, in the Chapel of Downs Funeral Home. A visitation will follow the service from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., in the Chapel.
