A time of visitation for Basiel George, 74, of Karnack, TX will be held for family and friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Saturday, March 29, 2014 at Downs Funeral Home. Mr. George passed away March 28, 2014 at his residence. Basiel George was born November 2, 1939 in Harleton, TX to John Thomas and Venita Marie Cisco George. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, loved his family and doted over his grandkids. Basiel married the love of his life, Frances Nolan on June 9, 1961 in Marshall, TX. Basiel repeatedly expressed to his children and wife that he "still liked" their mother. Surviving Mr. George are his wife, Frances Nolan George of Karnack, TX; his daughters, Janice George Cromer and husband Hugh of Holly Springs, MS, Judy Gale Murphy and husband Jason of Joshua, TX, Carol Jeanette Wright and husband William of Houston, TX; sons, Basiel R. George of Karnack, TX, Wesley Jones of Marshall, TX; 9 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; brother, Thomas Earl George of Hallsville, TX; sister, Joyce George of Longview, TX; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends. Mr. George was preceded in death by his parents and 5 sisters.
