Funeral services for Ben C. Hart, Jr., 69, of Marshall, will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, March 20, 2015, in the Chapel of Downs Funeral Home with Bro. Carlton Burris officiating. Interment will follow in Grange Hall Cemetery. A time of visitation will be held from 5:30-7:30 p.m., Thursday, March 19, 2015, at Downs Funeral Home. Mr. Hart passed away March 17, 2015 at his home. Ben C. Hart, Jr. was born October 17, 1945, in Shreveport, LA, to Ben C. Hart, Sr. and Madeline Baker Hart. He was a graduate of Carthage High School and attended Panola Junior College. Ben married Patricia (Tricia) Phillips on January 15, 1972, at Grange Hall Methodist Church. He was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church. Ben loved fishing and hunting. Surviving Ben are his wife, Tricia Hart of Marshall; his mother, Madeline Hart of Carthage; son, Zach Hart and wife Crystal of Marshall; grandchildren, Alyssa, Blaze and pending baby boy Hart; brother, Walt Hart and wife Jeanette of Carthage; sister, Andrea Peck and husband Paul of Kentucky; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Ben was preceded in death by his father, Ben Campbell Hart, Sr; grandmother, Theo Porter; and uncles, K. Baker and Jack Hart. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to M.D. Anderson Cancer Center, 1515 Holcombe Blvd, Houston, TX 77030.
