Funeral services for Bessie Lee Waldrop Pierce, 104 of Marshall will be held at 2 p.m., Friday December 23, 2011 in the Chapel of Downs Funeral Home with Rev. Bob McCarty officiating. Interment will follow in Colonial Gardens Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m., Thursday December 22, 2011 at the funeral home. Ms. Pierce passed away December 18, 2011 at Marshall Manor Nursing Home. Bessie Lee Waldrop was born December 29, 1906 in Panola County, Texas to W.H. Waldrop and Luraney Liles Waldrop. She later married Morris Andrew Pierce. He preceded her in death in 1979. Bessie was a homemaker and a member of Second Baptist Church in Marshall. Surviving Bessie are her son, J.W. Pierce of Marshall; three grandchildren, J.A. Pierce and wife Marilyn of Erie, CO, Karen Self of Marshall and Lynn Duncan and wife Ruth of Garland, TX. Also surviving are a number of great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and her brothers and sisters. She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Arlene (Polly) Starrett on January 10, 2011. Serving as pallbearers will be J.A.
