A funeral service for Betty Sides Blackman, 76, of Harleton, Texas will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, February 13, 2024, in the Chapel of Downs Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Piney Cemetery in Harleton. A visitation for family and friends will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Monday, February 12, 2024, at the funeral home.

Betty was born on January 27, 1948, in Tulsa, Oklahoma to Joseph Sides Sr. and Aline Jackson Sides and passed away on February 8, 2024, in Harleton, Texas.

She married Thomas Andrew Blackman on November 20, 1971, in Tulsa, Oklahoma and the two remained married until his passing. She was a member of Athey Baptist Church in Harleton, Texas. She worked as a homemaker and enjoyed reading, doing crafts and spending time with friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph Sr. and Aline Sides; husband, Tom Blackman and son, Ernest Blackman.

She is survived by her daughter, Elizabeth Clark and Greg Locke; brother, Joe Sides Jr. and wife, Bobbie; grandchildren, Ivaline Clark and Maddison Harke, Erica Clark and Logan Toal and Emma Clark and a great grandchild on the way, Presley Toal.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made in her honor to the American Heart Association or to the Diabetes Foundation.
