Betty Jernigan
Holt
Mar 5, 1943 — Jan 19, 2016
Betty Ann Hall Holt was born March 5, 1943 in DeBerry, Texas to loving parents Sol Hall Sr. and Daisy Cooper Hall. She was the youngest of twelve children, 9 sons and 3 daughters. Betty accepted Christ at an early age and became a member of Evergreen Baptist where she remained active until her health failed and God called her home.
She graduated from Booker T. Washington High School in Elysian Fields, Texas. She was employed in the attendance office and as a secretary for the Elysian Fields School District for 33 years until her retirement.
Mrs. Betty, as she was so lovingly called, always met you with a warm smile and heart filled laughter. She loved her family more than life itself and her grandchildren were her pride and joy. She always ended each visit or call with, "I Love You Up to Jesus" and she meant it with love. She was a mother, friend, counselor and peacemaker to so many.
On October 23, 2006 she married her soul mate, Mr. George Holt. He was always by her side even in sickness. To her he was her Rock. His laughter, funny side and kind heart made her smile and gave her peace.
She departed this life and was reborn anew to live forever with God on January 19, 2016, with her husband and loving family at her bedside.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Sol Sr. and Daisy Cooper Hall; brothers, Charlie, Sol, Jr., Andrew, Dewitt, Timothy, Freddie, Wendell, Ulysses and Herbert; sisters, Johnnie Lee and Mary C, and her daughter, Cynthia Dianne Jernigan.
Betty will always be remembered for her love of family and friends and will be missed by all.
Her love and life will be cherished by her husband, George Holt; daughter, Etta Carol Jernigan; son, James Aaron Jernigan; grandchildren, Tiea Nicole Jernigan, James Howard Jernigan, Katelyn Mosley and Sam Smith; great-grandchildren, Aidyn Jernigan, James Howard Jernigan II; her church family and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
We love you Betty Ann Holt, but God loves you more.
