Funeral service for Betty L. Mills, 76, of Marshall will be held 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, June 27, 2012 in the Chapel of Downs Funeral Home with Bro. Robert Mills officiating. Interment will follow in Kildare Cemetery. Visitation will be held 6:00 - 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, June 26, 2012 at Downs Funeral Home. Mrs. Mills passed away Saturday, June 23, 2012. Betty Mills was born August 6, 1935 in Thaxton, MS to Robert Leslie and Rosie Steale Benjamin. Betty married Horace Mills on July 4, 1952 in Marshall County, MS. They were blessed with three children. She was a member of Pine Forest Baptist Church, and the Eastern Star. Betty worked for a few years as a nurses' aide in Memphis, TN. She loved growing roses and gardening. Betty was a wonderful cook, and loved taking care of her family. Betty is survived by her sons, Robert (Bob) Mills, of Longview and Ricky Mills of Marshall; her daughter, Rose Mary Norton of Marshall; a sister, Lawanda Box of Oakland, MS; 15 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; 1 great great-grandchild; and a sister, Lawanda Box of Oakland, MS. She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Rosie Benjamin; her husband, Horace Mills; and a sister, Mildred Morris of Memphis, TN.
