Funeral services for Ms. Betty Jo Rodgers, 72 of Marshall will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday April 23, 2011 at Mt. Moriah Baptist Church in Marshall. Interment will follow in Powder Mill Cemetery under the direction of Downs Funeral Home. Visitation will be held from 6-7 p.m., Friday April 22, 2011 at the funeral home. She passed away April 14, 2011 in Marshall. Ms.Betty Smith Rodgers was born to the parentage of Jeffery and Sara Gray Smith in Harrison County on October 7, 1938. She accepted Christ at an early age and united with Mt. Moriah Baptist Church. She attended Marshall Public Schools. She united in holy matrimony with Johnnie Lee Alford and later married Burmis Rodgers. They both preceded her in death. She is also preceded in death by her mother and father; son, Michael Smith; cousin, Ricardo Robertson. She leaves to cherish her memories, daughters, Johnnie Jenkins, Carline Imoh both of Marshall; sons, Melvin Alford of Dallas, Texas, James Alford of Marshall; step-son, Eric Jackson of Marshall; God sister, Eleanor Morris of Marshall; bother, Jeffery Smith, Jr.; ten grandchildren, Derrick, LaToya, Larry, Kaneshia, Jarmon, Tamika, Tawanna, Jeremy, Kenny and Corey; eight great-grandchildren; a host of nieces and nephews; three special cousins, Mary Ford Green of Las Vegas, Hobert Robertson of Los Angeles, CA and Lathan Robertson of Oakland CA. and friends and other relatives.
