Billie Roy Gee On Jan. 4th 1947, Bill and Kay Gee of Kilgore Texas welcomed their oldest son, Billie Roy. A curious child, Billie lived for adventure. He quickly turned his eyes to the sky and there they stayed for the remainder of his life. Billie attended Kilgore schools, then entered the U.S. Air Force where he served as Chuck Yeager's crew chief in Vietnam. He enjoyed an adventure- filled global career in the skies as a corporate pilot and airline captain. Billie and Lari Gee retired to Marshall Texas where they established a flight school, Bayou Aviation, at the Marshall Airport. Never a loner, Billie shared his life with many who loved aviation. Billie left for his final flight to Wyoming on October 9, 2012, in the company of three friends. Billie established a family with Diana (Rutherford) Ponder of Kilgore. Their two children, Shelley Gee Caraway (Jerry) and Brent Shane Gee (Rebecca) followed in his footsteps as private and commercial pilots. Bill, Kay and Brent as well as his brother Byard, preceded him in death. Billie is survived by his wife and life partner, Lari of Caddo Lake; daughter and son in law, Shelley and Jerry Caraway of Kilgore; "adopted" daughter Josefina Saldana Gamboa of Mexico; sister Sylvia (Robert) Sheffield of Longview; brothers and their families, Alain (Jill) Gee and sons, William (Misty) and daughters, all of Kilgore, niece Angela Gee of Kilgore; grandchildren include Stayton Caraway, Stossley Caraway Kilgore, Cody Gee, Dakota Gee, and Tori Gee; great-grandchildren include Hunter Caraway and Brentyn Groh. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made to the Billie Gee Memorial Scholarship at East Texas Professional Credit Union or a charity of your choice. A celebration of life will occur at Bayou Aviation at Marshall Airport October 20 at 1 p.m.
