Funeral services for Brandie Jo Staples Lockwood, 24, of Marshall will be held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, October 19, 2012 in the Chapel of Downs Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Yates Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Scottsville, Texas. A time of visitation will be held from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m., Thursday, October 18, 2012 at Downs Funeral Home. Brandie passed away October 16, 2012 due to injuries in an automobile accident. Brandie Jo Staples Lockwood was born February 23, 1988 in Marshall to Thomas Jessie Staples and Carol Kay Verhalen. Brandie attended Marshall Public Schools. She was a devoted and loving mother to her boys. Brandie loved art, music, and the outdoors. She never met a strangerand greeted everyone with a smile. Brandie loved her family. Brandie is survived by her sons, Austin Lee Lockwood and William Joseph Lockwood of Marshall; her mother and step-father, Carol and William Huffman, Jr. of Marshall; father and step-mother, Jessie and Tonie Staples of Jacksonville; sisters, Shelby Staples, Cassity Staples, both of Marshall; brothers, Gary Staples, Brandon Robinson, both of Marshall; step-siblings, Cassie, Ashley, Nick, and Sarah Spottedbear, all of Houston; paternal grandparent, Ray Staples of Marshall; maternal grandparents, Betty Verhalen, Bill and Barbara Huffman, all of Marshall; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Brandie is preceded in death by her paternal grandmother, Kay Staples and her maternal grandfather, Gene Verhalen.
