A funeral service for Brian Jack Prothro, 60, of Elysian Fields, Texas will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, April 8, 2023, in the Chapel of Downs Funeral Home. A visitation for family and friends will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Friday, April 7, 2023, at the funeral home.

Brian was born on October 28, 1962, in Dallas, Texas to Owen L. Prothro and Sharon Jane Kerns Prothro and passed away on April 5, 2023, in Longview, Texas.

He served in the U.S. Army. He married Elizabeth Murphy Prothro on June 1, 2022, in Las Vegas, NV. He owned and operated Prothro Welding for a number of years. He worked for Hardware Resources in Bossier City for 6 years. He enjoyed welding, building things, hunting and shooting guns.

He is preceded in death by his father, Owen L. Prothro; grandmother, Gladys Prothro; uncle and aunt, Norman and Alise Prothro and first cousin, Pam King.

He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Prothro; his children, Jessica Verhalen and husband, Christopher, Drake Riggs and wife, Lindsay, Colton Prothro, Seth Prothro and Allyson Prothro; brothers and sisters, Kelley Whatley, Terry Prothro, Larry Prothro, Christy Hopkins, Candi Baldwin, Kimberly Almeida and husband, Tony and Chad Powell and wife, Linda; grandchildren, Paisleigh Riggs, Ophelia Verhalen and Jacqueline Verhalen along with numerous nieces, nephews and other family and friends.
