Bryan Ray
Conaway
Sep 6, 1941 — Feb 17, 2025
Crofton
Bryan Ray Conaway of Crofton, Maryland peacefully passed away on February 17, 2025. Bryan was born September 6, 1941, in Marshall, Texas and was a 1960 graduate of Marshall High School. Bryan grew up in the "Borden Milk Family," as his father was General Manager of Marshall's Borden plant, one of the city's leading industries at the time. After graduating from North Texas State University Bryan spent his entire occupational career as a Borden, Inc. employee serving in key positions in Little Rock, AR., and Biloxi, MS., as well as Marshall, Amarillo, Lubbock and Houston, TX.
Bryan is survived by his wife of 48 years, Gail Tackett Conaway, their son, Jason and wife, Kori; granddaughters, Everly and Emerson of Crofton; sons, Jeffery and Timothy and their families of Kansas and niece Linda Smith Gavigan of Dallas. Bryan treasured his many friendships, whether from his younger times growing up in Marshall or those formed through his Borden connections and the various places he and Gail lived during their several moves. He especially looked forward to visiting and reminiscing during the annual weekend reunions with friends from his MHS graduation class. Days spent at his farm south of Marshall counted as some of his very favorite times, raising cattle, cutting hay and driving his tractor. When he was not able to work at the farm, Bryan loved analyzing the stock market and developed an impressive ability to understand world events and how they affect the markets. In recent years he also enjoyed monthly "dominoes nights" with friends.
Bryan was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Sudie Messer Conaway of Marshall and sister, Patsy Ruth Conaway Smith of Dallas.
A casual Celebration of Life will be held at First Baptist Church, Marshall on March 1, 2025, at 1:00 p.m., followed by a family visitation afterward.
In lieu of flowers, please donate to the American Cancer Society in Bryan's name.
