Services for Byron Smith age 52 of Waskom, Texas will be held at Downs Funeral Home in Marshall, Texas on May 29, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. Services will be officiated by Steve Crawford.  Byron passed away on May 27, 2017 in Shreveport, Louisiana.  He was born on February 23, 1965 in Dallas, Texas.  He graduated high school in Arlington, Texas and moved east in 2003, where he lived out the rest of his days in the Piney Woods of East Texas.

Byron was preceded in death by his brother, Robert C. Smith, Jr. "Bob" and his grandparents. Survivors include parents, Robert and Barbara Smith; son, Austin Smith, twin sisters, Kae Justice(Victor) and Rae(Sam) Martin, and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.  He will be greatly missed by all.

Byron's hobbies include hunting, fishing, high school football, and following his Oklahoma Sooners. Byron enjoyed deep conversations while cracking a cold one…"or more" while jamming to classic rock.  Byron was a big teddy bear, very sentimental: a man of many words.  Byron enjoyed life to the fullest and was always cutting up.  He truly loved his family and friends.

The family request that in lieu of flowers, memorial be made in the name of Byron Smith to the Elysian Fields High School Football Program.

Pallbearers include: Austin Smith, Trey Schmidt, Chance Schmidt, Robert Schmidt, Richard Nowlin, James Lalonde, Micheal Hayes, and Justin Davidson.
