Carl W. Bunch, Jr. was born in Ardmore, Oklahoma on February 6, 1940 and passed away on November 9, 2021 in Longview, Texas. He was 81 years old. His parents were Rev. Carl W. Bunch, Sr. and Reba Bunch.

Carl and his wife, Beth met at East Texas Baptist College where they both graduated. They were married for 60 years.

Carl came to East Texas Baptist College from Decatur Baptist College from the fall of 1959 through the spring of 1961. He was selected to the All-Conference team both years. In 1961 he led the team to a trip to the NAIA tournament. During his time, he averaged double figures in both scoring and rebounds. He was inducted into the East Texas Baptist University Athletic Association Hall of Fame in 2003.

After graduating from East Texas Baptist College, he coached at Karnack, Elysian Fields and Marshall. He then left coaching and became a Pharmacy Rep for Squibb. Later he became Field Superintendent for Verado Energy and retired in 1991.

Carl also loved baseball. He was involved with the Babe Ruth League in Marshall both as an umpire and coach for several years. He was also involved with the Hallsville Dixie League where he coached 11–14-year-old boys. He was also a 32nd degree Mason. He loved his family dearly as well as his pets.

He is survived by his loving wife, Beth; one son, Brad Bunch and spouse, Virginia, one daughter Libby Bunch; grandsons, Robby Bunch and spouse, Cassidy and Nick Bunch; step grandchild, Josh Jester and spouse, Jessice; two beautiful great grandchildren, Cayman and Capri Bunch as well three step great grandchildren, Presley, Jackson and Harper.

He is preceded in death by his parents.

A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, November 20, 2021 in the Chapel of Downs Funeral Home in Marshall, Texas. A time for visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Friday, November 19, 2021.
