Funeral services for Ms. Carolyn Joyce LaRue Mauldin, 74, of Marshall will be held at 2 p.m., Friday March 04, 2011 in the Chapel of Downs Funeral Home with Bros. Dick Sawyer and Will Sherman officiating. Interment will follow in Grange Hall Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m., Thursday March 03, 2011 at the funeral home. Ms. Mauldin passed away Tuesday, March 01, 2011. Carolyn Joyce LaRue Mauldin was born March 26, 1936 in Shreveport, Louisiana. Ms. Mauldin was an active member of Nesbitt Baptist Church and a longtime employee of Marshall ISD, and then the Harrison County Elections office. Joyce enjoyed traveling and she loved music, reading and her dogs, Romeo and Roxie. Surviving Joyce are two daughters, Cindy Ottmers and husband Jim of Austin and Sandra Gobert and husband Jim of Marshall; son, David LaRue and wife Gina of Marshall; five grandchildren, Kristen LaRue Alexander and husband Brandon of Marshall, Zachary Manthe of Austin, Alisha Gobert Garrison and husband Jason of Longview, Dylan Ottmers of Austin, Jay Gobert of Marshall and great- grandson, Bryce Alexander of Marshall and special friends and other family members, Dixie Stanfield, Paula Cain, Kim Wells and Jo LaRue. She was preceded in death by her parents, J.D. Sullivan and Catherine Merritt Sullivan and spouses, Robert J. LaRue and Hamilton W. Mauldin.
