Carolyn Nell Petersen Graveside services for Carolyn Nell Petersen, 79, of Uncertain will be held at 10:00 am, Wednesday September 22, 2010 at Beers Field Cemetery in Uncertain. Visitation will be held from 6-8 pm, Tuesday September 21, 2010 at Downs Funeral Home. Mrs. Petersen passed away Sunday September 19, 2010 in Marshall. Carolyn Nell Petersen was born October 20, 1930 to W.L. Beers Smith and Isabel Gray in Marshall. On September 1, 1950 she married Fred Petersen in Modesto, CA. Mrs. Peterson held a masters degree in Elementary Education and was a school teacher where she taught school for Plainsburg, CA and Marshall ISD. She also loved sewing, knitting, craftwork and making things for her grandchildren. Surviving Carolyn are her husband of 60 years, Fred Petersen; two sons, Ken Petersen, of Marshall and Reid Petersen, of Elysian Fields; daughter, Penny Halliburton, of Uncertain; eleven grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren and three sisters, Pud Harper and Dottie Carter, both of Uncertain, and Diane Clarkson, of Silver City, NM.
