A service for Carter Wayne Ashley, Jr, 64, of Waskom will be held at 2:00pm Thursday, December 03, 2015 in the Chapel of Downs Funeral Home. Visitation will take place from 6:00pm to 8:00pm Wednesday, December 02, 2015 at Downs Funeral Home.

Mr. Ashley passed away Monday, November 30, 2015 at his home in Waskom. Carter Wayne Ashley, Jr. was born May 24, 1951 to Carter Wayne, Sr. and Lucille Ashley in Crockett, TX. Carter grew up hunting and fishing, a passion that continued throughout his life. He was an avid hunter and enjoyed spending time at his deer lease. Carter was a professional welder, but this was not just a job, it was something he truly enjoyed; building bar-b-que pits, horse trailers, flower hangers and anything else he could dream up or his friends and family may have asked him for. Carter was a loving man, someone who enjoyed spending time with and helping his friends and family any way he could.

Carter Wayne Ashely, Jr, is survived by his mother, Lucille Ashley; stepson, Mike McGuire; two grandchildren, Randy McGuire and Taylor Lang; three sisters, Peggy Laughter and husband, Harold of Waskom; Brenda Brashear of Waskom;  Janet Graves and husband Steve; one brother, Doyle Ashley and wife, Marie of Waskom; and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his son, Matthew Wayne Ashley; and his dad, Carter Wayne Ashley, Sr.
