Funeral services for Cecilia A. Stephens Henderson, 53, of Garland will be held 2:00 p.m., Saturday, August 10, 2013 at Bethesda Missionary Baptist Church with Reverend James Webb officiating. Interment will follow at Macedonia Cemetery. A time of visitation for family and friends will be held 5:00-7:00 p.m., Friday, August 9, 2013 at Downs Funeral Home. Mrs. Henderson passed away August 2, 2013 at Hospice Homeplace of East Texas in Tyler. Mrs. Cecilia A. Stephens Henderson, daughter of Mrs. Maurice Stephens McAfee, was born November 9, 1959 in Marshall, Harrison County, TX. Cecilia united with the Bethesda Baptist Church at the age of 11 in April, 1970 where she remained faithful and loyal until she moved to Dallas, TX to attend college. Later she united with 2nd Chapel Baptist Church in Garland, TX, where she remained a member until her death. Cecilia received her education in the Marshall Public Schools, a BS Degree at Bishop College, and her teaching certificate at East Texas Baptist University. She was an educator in the Dallas Independent School District for Thomas Jefferson High School and an instructional Science Coach for 29 years. Cecilia united in marriage to Michael Henderson. She leaves to mourn her passing and cherish her memory her husband, Michael Henderson; two sons, Michael L. (Ashley) Stephens of Dallas, TX and Terrence E. Henderson of Garland, TX; her mother, Maurice S. McAfee of Marshall, TX; one sister, Deborah L. McAfee of Marshall, TX; two brothers, William E. McAfee of Garland, TX and Kerry L. McAfee of Marshall, TX; one aunt, Mrs. Johnnie (Edward) Malone of Ft. Worth, TX; one uncle, Rodger Smith of Los Angeles, CA and numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Cecilia was preceded in death by one brother, Thomas J. Stephens.
