Charlene Goodall
Fulbright
Feb 15, 1933 — Aug 20, 2017
Charlene Goodall Fulbright, 84, went to be with her Lord and Savior Sunday, August 20, 2017. She was born February 15, 1933 to her parents, Charles and Ellen Perry Goodall in Purcell, Oklahoma. Charlene was the older of two daughters, 9 years older than her sister Pamela Goodall Norton McJohnson. She graduated from Andrews High School, Andrews, Texas. Charlene continued her education at Hardin-Simmons University in Abilene, Texas where she became a "Hardin-Simmons High Kicking Cowgirl". After graduation she taught school at Andrews Independent Schools.
Charlene later married James (Jim) L. Fulbright and lived in Graham, Texas before moving to Marshall with their two children, Jeffrey Charles Fulbright and Cynthia Lee Fulbright. After moving to Marshall, their third child, James Samuel Fulbright, was born. Since then two grandsons, Jacob Lee Fulbright and Jeffrey Pierce Fulbright were born to Jeffery, and two granddaughters, Morgan Leeann Fulbright and Molly Ellen Fulbright were born to Samuel. Their son Jeffery, who recently lost his wife, Christy, currently lives in the Marshall area. Their daughter, Cindy, currently lives in Longview and their son, Sam and his wife, Jerri Lynn, also live in the Marshall area.
Being the care-giving person she was, she decided to be a stay at home wife and mother. She believed this to be her life's calling. In her spare time she would care for sick friends, was a member of several community organizations, and was an active member of the First United Methodist Church of Marshall.
Charlene enjoyed life to the fullest. Her MOST enjoyable moments were the time spent with her grandchildren. She helped to mold them into the caring, loving, fun, adults they are today. The grandchildren have several fond memories of their Gay Gay. One in particular was her love for dressing up in costumes on holidays and joining their elementary classrooms for the celebrations. She would always bring goodies for the class and read famous holiday books. She loved being Gay Gay!
Charlene loved to travel. She enjoyed vacations with her entire family and with her dear friends. They traveled all over the world, but her most memorable trip was to Greece with their friends the Pedisons. She would always reminisce about that trip and the great time had by all.
She touched many lives over the years. Her caring, fun loving personality was contagious to all who met her. She will be truly missed by her family, friends, and church members.
Charlene is survived by her husband, Jim Fulbright; their two sons, one daughter, and four grandchildren; one granddaughter-in-law, Emily Fulbright; sister, Pam Norton McJohnston and husband, Andy; nephew, Matt Norton and wife Dena; niece, Piper Norton Choate; and numerous great-nieces and nephews. She also loved dearly and was survived by Lynn Smith and Toby Morris.
She was preceded in death by her parents and nephew, Josh Norton.
The family would like to thank the many individuals that came by, called, sent text messages, cards and especially for the many prayers. A special loving thank you to Raelyn Heath who loved and cared for Charlene daily. Raelyn was Charlene's trusted caregiver and friend.
In lieu of flowers, the family would like donations made to Marshall Hospice and Health Care in Charlene's name. The family would like to thank them for the amazing care provided to Charlene during her time of need.
