Funeral services for Charles Ray Anthony, 61, of Marshall will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, August 22, 2015 in the Chapel of Downs Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Rose Hill Gardens Cemetery. A time of viewing will be held from 2:00-7:00 p.m., Friday, August 21, 2015 at Downs Funeral Home. Mr. Anthony passed away August 13, 2015 at Good Shepherd Medical Center in Marshall. Mr. Anthony was born September 14, 1953 in Marshall, Texas to Gilbert Anthony, Sr., and Audrey Minnifield Anthony. He was baptized at a very early age and became a member of Greater New Life Missionary Baptist Church, Marshall, Texas later in life. Charles Ray attended Marshall Independent School District. During his employment, he worked for Berwind Railway of Scottsville, Texas as a welder for 13 years, The City of Marshall, Texas and the Presbyterian Church in Longview. Mr. Anthony married Kathy Smith on June 6, 1975 in Marshall. They had just celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary. To this union, two children were born (Charles Emmitt and Devin Charles). He enjoyed several sports such as basketball, football and baseball, and he loved listening to music. He also enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He was a native of Marshall, Texas until his passing. He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife Kathy Anthony; two sons, Charles Emmitt Anthony (Erica), Devin Charles Anthony (Angela); one brother, Gilbert Anthony, Jr.; six grandchildren, Zavesia, Alexandrea, Ashunti, Keylon, Blaine and Blake, all of Marshall, Texas; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
