Charles "Butch"
Houck, Jr.
Jul 10, 1949 — Dec 3, 2024
Marshall
Charles Leo Houck Jr was born in Portsmouth, Virginia on July 10, 1949, and passed away peacefully in his sleep at the Overton Brooks VA hospital in Shreveport, Louisiana on December 3, 2024. He was known by Butch or Chuck depending on who you ask, and he leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and devotion.
A proud veteran, Chuck served his country with honor in the Army, deploying with the 9th Infantry Division and the 4th Division in Vietnam, as well as being stationed in Germany. He also pursued higher education, earning various certificates related to his profession at Texas A&M, the University of North Texas, and the University of Texas. He worked at Thiokol for several years, and then at the City of Marshall Water Department until he retired. His work ethic and passion for learning were truly commendable.
Chuck was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents (who lovingly raised him) and his 2 brothers Carl and Chris. He is survived by his beloved wife of 40 years, Rosecarol Houck, his children Angie Rose and Doug Hubbs, Brian and Kristi Houck, and Michael and Rachel Elardo, his loving dog Star, 14 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, his 5 sisters, multiple beloved aunts and cousins, nieces and nephews. His love, kindness, and warmth will forever be remembered and treasured by his family.
Among his many traits, Chuck will be fondly remembered for his sarcastic sense of humor, his unwavering love for football, and most importantly, his deep love and devotion to his family. His presence will be deeply missed, but his memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him. In honor of Charles Leo Houck Jr, may we continue to cherish the precious memories and values he imparted, and may his spirit of love and laughter guide us in our lives. Rest in peace, we love you!
A private celebration of life will be held by family and close friends this weekend.
