Charles L Porter, Jr, called" Charlie Boy" by his family, joined his Lord and Savior on July 2, 2024. He was born on August 16, 1938 to Charles Lawrence Porter Sr and Willie Waneda Gee, in Grapeland, Tx. He graduated from Grapeland High School in 1956. Upon his graduation, he joined the US Navy on June 7, 1956 and served through August 17, 1959. He received training in Aviation Fundamentals and Electronics and became an instructor in 1958. After his Navy Discharge, he worked for the State of Texas in the Comptroller's Department, and continued his education at the University of Texas in Austin from 1959 through 1965.
For 10 years, beginning in 1965, Charles was the President of C R Law Tax Records Inc, in Austin, Texas. In 1976 until 1984, he served as the Sr VP of Western Data Services Inc, in Waxahachie, Texas. He joined the McCreary, Veselka, Bragg and Allen Lawfirm in Austin, Texas, where he served as their Director of Marketing and Client Relations. In 1993, he transferred to the Longview Branch of the firm and retired in December, 2002. Throughout his career, he never met a stranger, and was a real Gentleman. He loved God, his country, his family, and was a true friend to his friends. Upon retirement, he was able to devote time to his passion…the game of golf. He always said he became a better man by playing golf. It shaped his character, sharpened his senses, and provided mental and physical discipline.
