Funeral services for Mr. Charley Sidney Slaughter, 86 of Marshall will be held at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday January 05, 2011 in the Chapel of Downs Funeral Home with Rev. Tom Ratcliff officiating. Interment will follow at Pope City Cemetery in Woodlawn. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m., Tuesday January 04, 2011. Mr. Slaughter passed away Saturday January 01, 2011 in Nacogdoches. Charley Sidney Slaughter was born June 03, 1924 in Marshall to George Slaughter and Carrie Wade Slaughter. On August 28, 1944, he married Marjorie Louise Hickey Slaughter who preceded him in death in 2009. Charley was a graduate of Marshall High School and received his degree in Accounting and marketing from Stephen F. Austin in Nacogdoches and was an accountant for Exxon from 1946 to 1975.He also served in the European Theater during W.W.II in the U.S. Army in Germany, France and Italy. Surviving Mr. Slaughter are two daughters, Sharon Lynn Sanders of Nacogdoches and Vicki Gail Banks of Waskom; five grandchildren; one great-grandson; one nephew and two nieces.
