A funeral service for Charlie Lewis Burks, 65, of Marshall, Texas will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, December 29, 2022, in the Chapel of Downs Funeral Home. Interment will immediately follow at St. John Cemetery.

Mr. Charlie Lewis Burks, son of the late Mr. William Burks and Mrs. Zena Holloway Burks was born on October 15, 1957, in Marshall, Texas.

At an early age he joined St. John Baptist Church and remained a member until his death. He was educated in the Elysian Fields School District up to the 10th grade. He was a diehard Dallas Cowboys fan.

He departed from us at the age of 65 on December 23, 2022, at Christus Good Shepherd in Longview, Texas.

He leaves to cherish his memory, brothers, William Everrett of Stockton, CA, Robert L. Burks of Marshall, TX and Paul Harris of Greenville, TX; sisters, Estella Jones, Gloria Johnson and Georgia Ann Reese all of Marshall, Texas along with numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
