A graveside service for Charlotte Kitchen, 83, of Marshall, Texas will be held at 12:30 p.m., Friday, January 26, 2024, at the Northwest Louisiana Veterans Cemetery in Keithville, Louisiana. A visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., Thursday, January 25, 2024, at Downs Funeral Home. Mrs. Kitchen passed away on January 14, 2024, in Marshall, Texas.

She was born on September 12, 1940, in Easton, Pennsylvania to Charles Stewart Snook and Elsie Marie Galle Snook.

She married Billy Kitchen on October 18, 1957, in Baltimore, Maryland and the two remained married until his passing in 2023. They relocated from Pennsylvania in 1992 and after a short stay in Louisiana, they settled in Marshall, Texas. She was a physical therapy assistant who worked in the home health in the Marshall area and then accepted a position at Marshall Regional Medical Center where she retired in 2010. She enjoyed country living, including adopting numerous dogs and cats throughout the decades. She also enjoyed riding her horse and working in the garden.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Billy Kitchen; two brothers, Stewart Snook and Charles Snook and sister, Mary Morris.

She is survived by her children, Billy Kitchen, Jr., Debra Acosta, Charles Kitchen, Ernest Kitchen and Mary Kitchen; grandchildren, Jennifer Kitchen, Amanda Kitchen, Emily Shepherd, Katie Kitchen, Kyle Kitchen, David Acosta, Marcos Acosta, Phillip Acosta, Charles Kitchen, Jr., Austin Kitchen, Christopher Kitchen, Courtney Kitchen and Justin Kitchen and numerous great grandchildren along with other family and friends.
