Charlotte Dean Burton McCarty was welcomed into the loving arms of her Savior, Jesus Christ, on August 7, 2026. She passed peacefully surrounded by her family and traveled beyond this world to one free from grief, pain, sickness, and sorrow.

Charlotte was born in Ponta, Texas, on June 25, 1948, to her parents, Aulma and Dorothy Burton, and was the middle of their eight children. She married Michael Lee McCarty on June 6, 1981, in Marshall, Texas, where they made their home of 44 years until his death on July 18, 2025.

Charlotte was also preceded in death by her parents, Aulma and Dorothy; her husband, Michael Lee McCarty; sister, Bertie Bell Burton, and brother, Phillip Burton.

Survivors include her children: Melissa Cameron, Jason Branch (Casey), Angela Gonzales (Nick), Rachel Weekly (Brad Tipton), Jeremy McCarty (Karen), and Jonathan McCarty; and thirteen grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and five siblings.

Charlotte was an avid movie fan and loved to laugh. She was also an adept and dangerous domino player. She also loved to cook for her family, especially her famous chocolate pie. For over 20 years, Charlotte was a nurse in both the hospital and home health settings. Her servant's heart extended to many families for whom she served in Harrison County and its surrounding counties.

The family is sincerely grateful to Marshall Home Health and Hospice, Visiting Angels, and the many friends and family who visited and contacted our family with comforting prayers and condolences.

Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, August 9, 2026, in the Chapel of Downs Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Myrtle Springs Cemeter in Ponta, Texas.
