A Memorial Service will be held for Cheryl Lynne Cloyd, 57 of Longview, Texas on Wednesday, November 14, 2018 in the chapel of Downs Funeral Home in Marshall, Texas.

Mrs. Cloyd passed away in Longview on November 9, 2018.

Cheryl was born November 2, 1961 in Marshall, Texas to Lunis Rufus George, Sr. and Mary Helen Ray George. She married William Howell Cloyd, Jr. on February 3, 1986 in Longview, Texas.  She worked as a nurse for over 30 years.

She loved her family, especially her grandchildren.  She was a wonderful wife, mother, daughter, sister and friend.  She was big into her children and grandchildren's sports and activities, like Boy Scouts, Football, Baseball and Soccer.  She was an avid reader.  She was a true "crafter" who especially loved to paint and crochet.  She had an amazing adventurous spirit and was always up for a "road trip" or other "shenanigans".  She was the glue that held her family together. She was a true friend that everyone could count on at any time.  She will be greatly missed.

Those left to cherish her memory are her husband of 32 years, William Howell Cloyd, Jr. of Longview, Texas; sons, Justin Roger Hall of Houston, Texas; William Howell Cloyd, III and wife, Lani of Harleton, Texas and Austin Ryan Cloyd of Lawton, Oklahoma; parents, Rufus Sr. and Mary George of Jefferson, Texas; sisters, Penney Price of Marshall, Texas; Susan Patterson and husband Ricky of Hallsville, Texas; brothers, Rufus George Jr. and wife, Penny of Jefferson, Texas and Randy George and wife, Angie of Hallsville, Texas; grandchildren, Levi Cloyd, Harper Cloyd and Gray Cloyd; and a host of nieces and nephews.
