Obituary

Cindy Hays went to be with her Lord and Savior on April 30th, 2023, at the age of 67 surrounded by her family in her home in Marshall, Texas.

Born Cindy Lou White in Houston, Texas, the daughter of Charles V White and Dorothy (White) Martin, she was raised on a farm near Brachfield outside of Henderson. After graduating high school, she attended Sam Houston State University. Cindy was crowned Miss Rusk County 1974 and competed in the Miss Texas Pageant. In 1978 she married the love of her life Johnny Hays and celebrated 44 years last September. They have been blessed with a daughter Lesley, son Corey Jordan (CJ), granddaughter Alexis and great-granddaughter Westlyn. A social butterfly, Cindy was known for her fiery spirit, approachability and zeal for life. She enjoyed time spent with family and friends playing games, camping, fishing and traveling. She will be remembered for her beautiful singing voice, compassionate, loving nature and enduring faith in God, never without hope for eternal life through Christ Jesus. This is her testimony: Death is not my future, Jesus is.

Services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, May 4, 2023, in the Chapel of Downs Funeral Home. A graveside service will follow at 1:00 p.m. at Maple Grove Cemetery in Minden, Texas.
