A memorial service for Clara Lentz Westmoreland, 84, of Marshall will be held 11:00 A.M., Saturday, August 3, 2013 in the Chapel of Downs Funeral Home. A time of visitation will be held 6:00-8:00 P.M., Friday, August 2, 2013 at Downs Funeral Home. Mrs. Westmoreland passed away July 27, 2013 in Marshall, Texas. Clara Calvin Lentz Westmoreland was born February 9, 1929 in Marshall, TX to John Frederic and Sallie Starr McGee Lentz. Ms. Clara attended Marshall Public Schools and was a graduate of the University of Texas. She married Aubrey Dare Westmoreland Jr. on February 10, 1954. Mr. Westmoreland preceded her in death in 1981. Mrs. Westmoreland was active in many ways. She had previously worked in the Marshall Senior High School office, J. F. Lentz Jewelry Company, Westmoreland's Cleaners, and Aub's Suzuki, Inc. of Longview which she and her husband owned. Some of the organizations that she participated in were MRMC Hospital Auxiliary, Faith Bible Church Ladies Bible Study, Harrison County Historical Society, Michelson Museum of Arts, 3M Investment Club, Daughters of the Republic of Texas, Harrison County Humane Society, Delta Gamma Sorority, Marshall Regional Arts Council, and Community Concerts Association. Clara is survived by her son, Aubrey Dare Westmoreland III and wife Gayle of Marshall, TX; daughters, Sallie Annette Westmoreland Rogers of Santa Rosa, CA and Susan Elaine Westmoreland Lincoln of Dallas, TX; grandchildren, Katherine Elizabeth Rogers, Russell Bryant Rogers, Billie Elaine Rogers, Christina Marie Rogers, Harrison Lentz Westmoreland, Lorien Lea Westmoreland, Grant Darden Westmoreland, Laura Nicole Rogers; a number of cousins, and many nieces and nephews.
