A funeral service for Corey Booker, 53, of The Colony, Texas will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, February 5, 2022, in the Chapel of Downs Funeral Home in Marshall, Texas. Interment will follow with Rose Hill Cemetery. A time for visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Friday, February 4, 2022, at Downs Funeral Home. Mr. Booker passed away on January 25, 2022, in Plano, Texas.

He was born November 11, 1968, in Marshall, Texas to the parentage of Mr. Willie Charles Booker, Sr. and Mrs. Louise Booker. At an early age, he accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior.

He attended Marshall Public Schools, Denton Public Schools, and graduated from The Colony High School in 1987. As an active sportsman, he excelled in basketball and was a star athlete at The Colony High School where he earned several college basketball scholarships. He matriculated to East Texas Baptist University where he was an honorable mention All-American in basketball. He was a Christian who loved God and always found and attended a church home. He was very charismatic, loved people, hardworking, and his kind and jovial nature kept those around him laughing. His last employer describes him as "A person that did everything with excellence". He enjoyed watching and playing sports, family time, spades, dominoes, and he loved to eat! He loved his family and loved life. His nature was to protect his family, friends, and anyone he cared for.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Dianne Clark, and brothers, Willie Ray Booker, and Willie C. Booker, Jr., aka Boone.

He leaves to cherish his precious memories: Sister, Paula Curry of Melissa, TX; Brothers: Michael (Victoria) Gray of The Colony, TX; David Ray Booker of Dallas, TX; Cedric (Regina) Gray of Lancaster, TX; and Kelvin (Cora) Booker of Lewisville, TX. Aunts: Mary King of Marshall, TX; Renee (Leon) McBay and Normal Jackson of Dallas, TX; and Margaret (Morris) Jackson of Karnack; Nieces: Bobbie (Corey) Hurd of Marshall, TX; Breanna and Breea Curry of Melissa, TX; Sonya (Christian) Garcia of West Palm Beach, FL; Shaylyn Curry of Dallas, TX; Amanda Booker of Commerce, TX; and Brittany & Nakiyah Gray of Marshall, TX; Nephews: David Drew Booker of Las Vegas, NV; Cedric Gray, Jr. of San Diego, CA; Keldn (Hannah) Booker of Lake Dallas, TX; Jareck (Brianna) White of Katy, TX; and Kevlin Booker of Lewisville, TX; Great-nephews: Devon Jones and Julian Ortiz of Melissa, TX; A Great-niece: Tia Sellers of Marshall, TX; Godson: Sergeant Isaac Wheeler of Yuma, AZ; and a host of other relatives and numerous friends.
