Ida Mae Slone, Ikey as she was loving called by her nieces and nephews, was born April 23, 1927 in Arp, Texas to Virgil and Ida Pearl Chambers. On December 01, 1945 Ida married the late Emory Dale Slone. She worked for Slone Construction until her retirement in 1975. Following retirement, she volunteered as a Pink Lady at Marshall Memorial Hospital from 1978 – 1996. Ida faithfully attended and served in First Baptist Church of Marshall. She was especially fond of the Cradle Roll Program where she ministered and encouraged new mothers in her home while loving and doting on their babies. She served many homebound individuals through the years while volunteering for Meals on Wheels. In her free time, she devoted herself to her family, played bridge, enjoyed swimming and water aerobics at Marshall Life Center, played the piano, and was a dedicated prayer warrior interceding for many on a daily basis.
Ida is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Charlotte Slone; grandchildren, Casey Slone, Ross Slone and his wife, Beth, Sharla Visage and her husband, Thomas; great-grandchildren, Hailey Slone, Madison Slone, Cagan Slone, Molly Visage, Collier Slone, and Tom Visage; and a daughter-in-law, Christen Slone. Also surviving Ida are numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
