Funeral services for Dan Allen Fried, 78 of Marshall will be held at 10 a.m., Thursday, May 29, 2014 in the chapel of Downs Funeral Home with Rev. Earl Duggins officiating. Interment will follow in Yates Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Scottsville, TX. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m., Wednesday, May 28, 2014 at the funeral home. Mr. Fried passed away May 26, 2014 in Longview. Dan Allen Fried was born May 8, 1936 in Harleton, Texas to Travis H. Fried, Sr. and Mozelle Allen Fried. He graduated in 1954 from Longview High School. On September 10, 1954, he married Jo Nell Conley in Longview, Texas. Dan was employed for 37 years by Swepco/ AEP, working in the Marshall, Longview and Gilmer Areas where he started out as a helper to Lineman to Sr. Lineman to Patrolman to Troubleman and retired as Supervisor. He was an avid golfer and fisherman. Surviving Dan are his wife, Jo Nell Fried of Marshall; sons, Mark Fried and wife Janet of Kilgore and Clint Fried and wife Donna of Marshall; grandchildren, Joseph Fried of Tyler, Daniel Fried of Dallas, Lucas Fried and wife Jenny of Houston, Jennifer White and husband Larry of Kilgore and Emily Fried of Marshall; great grandchildren, Cole Fried of Houston and Hannah White of Kilgore; sisters, Peggy Hughes and husband Pat of Marshall and Sara Hasty and husband Fred of Lake O' the Pines; brother, Travis Fried, Jr. and wife Lawana of Kilgore; sister-in-law, Twyla Fried of Kilgore and six nieces and seven nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Larry Fried and Carlton Fried; mother and father-in-law, Joe and Lexi Conley, a brother and sister-in-law and two nephews. Serving as pallbearers will be Joseph Fried, Daniel Fried, Lucas Fried, Larry White, Jim Fried and James Bulloch. Honorary pallbearers will be his Latex Golfing buddies. Memorial contributions may be made in his name to the charity of your choice.
