Dan Garrett, 71, of Eldorado, Texas, died on March 22, 2018, while visiting family in Marshall, Texas.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00a.m. Sunday, April 1, 2018, prior to the annual family Easter celebration located on 4859 FM 2609, Garrison, TX, with AW Wright officiating.

Dan was born in Houston, Texas, to Vernon "Bill" and Viola Garrett on February 7, 1947. He grew up in Diana, Texas. He served briefly in the Navy after high school. He worked as a pipe fitter/welder in Houston and east Texas areas for many years. He retired from the Longview Police Department in 2004 after 20 years of service. After retirement, he pursued a lifelong dream of working as a wrangler at Yellowstone, driving a covered wagon for the Cowboy Cookout and leading trail rides throughout the beautiful mountains. He was a longtime member of the Ashland chapter of the Masonic Lodge. His final years were spent living on a beautiful ranch in west Texas. In his lifetime, he never met a stranger, and he left an imprint on the lives of those he loved.

Dan is preceded in death by his father, as well as his brothers, Johnny and Donny Garrett.

He is survived by his daughters, Carie Dallmann (husband Jason) and Tebble Foret (husband Joe); sons, Jason Garrett (Crickette) and Morgan Garrett; his brothers, Larry Garrett (wife Charlotte) and Jim Garrett (wife Debi); sister, Sheila Reneau; mother, Viola Garrett Reed; grandchildren, Jeremy Foret, Brandon Foret (wife Karolyna), Hannah Foret, Adam Foret, Garrett Foret, Lauren Garrett, Destiany Ledbetter, Jadden McMahon, Anna Dallmann, and Larsen Dallmann; numerous nieces and nephews; as well as his best friend and love, Maggie Middleton.
