Obituary

Daniel (Danny) Nichols was born on February 16, 1960, to Leo and Helen Nichols in Shreveport, La and at the age of 62 walked into Heaven on two strong legs to meet his Lord and Savior on Monday April 18, 2022, in Longview Texas.

Danny was a sweet child and being the 6th out of 7 children, was mischievous with a great sense of humor. He spent a lot of time in and out of Shriner's Hospital when he was a youth and had many fond memories of the staff and friends he made there. He was always adventurous. Overcoming many obstacles, he was very independent. He grew up in Cedar Grove then moved to DeBerry, Texas when he was a teen. Later he began to learn the drywall business and did tape and floating for various companies. This job took him all over the country working in Georgia, New York, Florida and Colorado which he loved. He has hitchhiked all over and shared his adventures. He took great pride in his work and the friends he worked with. He loved the country, eventually making his permanent home in DeBerry. He loved nature. He took videos of the deer and flying squirrels behind his home bringing him joy. His other love, apart from family, would be his music. He played guitar being self-taught and loved to share whenever possible. He played in a band for a while. He had a good heart, taking care of his yard as well as his sisters' yards too. He enjoyed working outside and he loved Isabelle his cat.

He is preceded in death by his parents Helen and Leo Nichols, brother Ronald Nichols and wife Patricia, sister Belinda Nichols, and niece Dixie Marie Nichols.

He is survived by sisters Barbara Foster, Carolyn Nichols, Janie Jordan and husband Mark, and brother Steve Nichols and wife Jeanie. He was very proud of his numerous nieces and nephews.

Family would like to thank the ER staff and ICU doctors and nurses and Dr Stanley at Good Shepherd Hospital in Longview for their compassion and effort in working with Danny.

A memorial may be scheduled at a later date. Any donations should be made in his name to Shriners Hospital and would be greatly appreciated.
