A funeral service for Danny Ray Palmer, 73, of Marshall, Texas will be held at 7:00 p.m., Friday, December 13, 2024, at Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints Church in Marshall Texas. A visitation for family and friends will be held prior to the service from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the church. A graveside service will be held at 9:00 a.m., Saturday, December 14, 2024, at Yates Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Scottsville, Texas.

Danny was born on March 30, 1951, in Huron, South Dakota to Martin Palmer and Laverne Meyers Palmer and passed away on December 4, 2024, in Longview, Texas.

He married Elise Ann Myers on December 26, 2019, and the two had been married for five years, and December 26th would have been their sixth-year wedding anniversary. He joined the United States Army in 1968 and retired in 1991. He served in Vietnam, Korea and Hawaii, receiving numerous Medals during his time serving. He worked for the United States Postal Service from 1993 to 2006 as a mail processor. He was a wonderful, giving and caring man that would do anything for people. He loved all his children and grandchildren. He enjoyed fishing, but his big hobby was going and playing Bingo. He was also an excellent cook.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Martin and Laverne Palmer; brothers, Kenny, Jerry, Richard and Gene; sisters, Sylvia, Carol and Diane and step granddaughter, Lucy.

He is survived by his wife, Elise Palmer, twin brother, Lanny Palmer and wife, Michelle; stepchildren, Caroline, Mike, Melinda, Scotty, William, Harold, James, Niki, Jason, Dena and spouse, Matt, Tia, Todd and spouse, Beth, Cara and Travis; several grandchildren and many nieces and nephews along with other family and friends.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made in his honor to the charity of your choice.
