The evening of August 27, 2023, Darnell "Pops" Washington was granted his Angel wings and passed away peacefully.

Darnell was born in Marshall, Texas on May 15, 1955, to the late Dave Washington and Katherine Edwards Washington. He graduated from Marshall High School in 1975. He met and fell in love with Ogelia Nell Hurd, and they married in February 1977. To this union three children were born. Darnell later remarried in May of 1999 to Sandra Grant in Longview, Texas, where he gained three bonus sons. He worked as a truck driver for Borden's Milk Company for 29 years and he also worked as a machinist supervisor at Trinity Industries for 17 years.

Preceding him in death are both of his wives, his parents, his brothers, David, Phillip and James and three of his grandchildren and brothers-in-laws, Henry Shepperd and Willie "Cheata" Williams.

He leaves to cherish his memories, his children, Broderick Sr. (Tameka Clay-daughter in love), Kenisha "Moneak" (Mark Brown-son in love), Takeia "Pooh", Miguel (bonus son), Julius (April-daughter in love), Dadrian (Keisha-daughter in love) and Adrian; also, his grandchildren, Bronta, Brionna, Broderick Jr., Demontez, NiStijia, Mistajia, Tamaria, Peyton and Aaron (Nitesha), Tneya, KeShun, Deja and Zoe, Journee and Jayla; 13 great grandchildren with four more great grandchildren on the way soon; his sisters, Carol (Robert), Ethel, Cecelia (Cheata), Carrie "Kitty", Sharon "Pokey" and Deborah (Henry). Also, left to cherish his memories are a huge host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
