A memorial service for Mr. Darryl H. "Kontri" Hollins will be held on Saturday, April 10, 2021 at 2:00p.m. at Downs Funeral Home.

Darryl "Kontri" Hollins, 60, of Marshall, Texas was born on July 17, 1960 in Houston, Texas to his parents, Homer Hollins and Robert(Robbie) Jane Gholston. He was the oldest of four children.

He joined Garden Grove Christian Church at an early age and was a faithful and active member. Upon graduation from Kashmere High School, he attended Jarvis Christian College earning a BBA degree and the nickname "Kontri", due to his loud and gregarious nature.

He married Shevon Hunter in 1993 and to this union they were blessed with a son in 1997.

Mr. Hollins worked as an USDA inspector for 15 years until his health started to decline.

He passed away in Tyler, Texas on April 1, 2021.

Mr. Hollins is survived by his son, Robert K. Hollins of Cypress, TX; brother, Homer G. Hollins of Pittsburg, TX; sisters, Rhonda (Marvin) Jeffery of Hallsville, TX, and Tanya Watkins of Pittsburg, TX. Four nieces, Jasmine (Daniel) Henderson, and Katryna Watkins of Tyler, TX; LaTisha Watkins of Pittsburg, TX and Lauren Jeffery of Hallsville, TX; four aunts, and a host of great nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends.

Mr. Hollins was preceded in death by his wife, Shevon Hollins; infant son, Franz Hollins; his mother and father and his maternal and paternal grandparents.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that any donations made in Mr. Hollins name be made to Shriners Hospital.
