Buddy was born on December 4, 1925, in Carthage, Texas to James Brady Andrews and Frances Clee Harrell Andres and passed away on December 30, 2023, in Marshall, Texas.
He served in the United States Marines during World War II from December 1943 to August 1946. He opened Andrews Radiator in 1947. His sons took over the business in 1988, but he stayed active in the business until they sold out.
His wife, Wanda, truly was the love of his life. They had a special bond that all couples long for. He absolutely adored her. When she was diagnosed with Alzheimer's his love and care for her was a testimony to everyone of what true love really is and she felt loved and secured because he was always there. His prayer while she was alive was that he would be healthy enough to care for her as long as she lived and God answered that prayer for him.
He loved telling stories about growing up, serving in World War II, meeting and marrying the love of his life, starting a business, becoming a father, grandfather and great grandfather, hunting, fishing, frog gigging, the deer lease in the hill country and the list goes on and on. He loved God, his kids, grandkids, friends, and his church, Evangelical Presbyterian Church. He often witnessed to his nurses and caretakers and anyone else he came in contact with. His memory was remarkable until the end. He could tell you the names of childhood friends, marine buddies, church friends, and football players. He could tell stories from his childhood growing up with his brother, James and his sister Dorothy. He would also tell stories of his football days with Y.A. Tittle. One of his favorite stories was to tell of the first time he met the love of his life, Wanda.
Buddy loved to pray. He had a nightly prayer that lasted about 30 minutes because he added names of anyone that he heard that needed prayers. He never forgot those names.
Two years ago, after a broken back and rehab, he went to live at Reunion Inn. His family fixed up his rooms with all the things he loved from his home. He treasured pictures of Wanda and his deer, duck and turkey mounts. He loved the staff at Reunion Inn! They spoiled him rotten and made his life joyful and meaningful.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James Brady Andrews and Frances Clee Harrell Andrews; brother, James Andrews and sister, Dorothy Bartley.
He is survived by his children, DeLacy Andrews, Jr. and wife, Deborah, Lori Mosher and husband, Marty, Brady Andrews and wife, Becky and Dana Andrews and wife, Debbie; grandchildren, Josh Andrews and wife, Megan, Christine Parker and husband, Ben, Brett Mosher, Scott Mosher, Lindsey Scott, Kenzie Dane and husband, Brendon, Jesse Andrews, Blaire Oden and husband, J.
