A funeral service for Dennis Leon Stroger, 70, of Marshall, Texas will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, January 31, 2022, in the Chapel of Downs Funeral Home in Marshall, Texas. Interment will follow at Algoma North Cemetery. Mr. Stroger passed away on January 25, 2022, in Marshall, Texas.

Dennis Leon Stroger was born in Marshall, Texas on June 29, 1951, to the parents of Bonnie Stroger and Lucy White. He attended public school in Harrison County and graduated from H.B. Pemberton High School in 1969. His idea of relaxing was going fishing or hunting even if he did not catch a bite or see any game. If you got to really know him, he was a very sweet and honest person. Oh, and let's not forget, he loved watching his favorite football team, the Dallas Cowboys, and hockey team, the Dallas Stars.

Dennis spent 42 dedicated years working for Norit American until his long and overdue retirement. He loved to advocate for those who did not stand up for themselves, acting as president of the union during his tenure at Norit American.

He was preceded in death by his late wife, Myrtis Jewel Abercrombie Stroger; his mother and father; and a "special" brother, Mr. Bennie Joe Williams.

He leaves to cherish his precious memories: his seven children: Sheryl Moore (Kendall); Lawrence Ausbrooks; Angela Davis; Meia Jackson (Patton); Johnette Abercrombie; Jennifer Chang (Michael); and his baby girl, Jada Johnson. To cherish his precious memories as well, he leaves a long list of grandchildren: Natasha Suber, Mark Johnson, Tiffani Waskom, Mark Godbolt, Kourtney Moore, Destinee Godbolt, Shebrilla Ausbrooks, Darius Ausbrooks, Jalen Perry, Angelique Tiller, Jon Tiller, Jr, Ian Adams, Emmannual Adams, and Karsyn Taylor He also leaves a host of precious great-grandchildren, family, and friends, especially Mr. Mike McCowan who was like a brother to him.
